The rules
How we pick
A gift finder is only useful if you can trust it. Here is exactly what goes on a card and what never does.
What goes on a card
- The product's own page. Every gift links to the page where it's sold, either the maker's shop or a store that carries it. We open that page and check it's on sale on the date shown on the card.
- What it is, in one plain sentence from that page.
- Why it suits them, in our words. That line is opinion, and it's ours.
- A photo only when the product page has one. We show it from that page, with credit.
What never goes on a card
- Prices. They change every day, so the button takes you to the real one.
- Star ratings, review counts or reviews. We don't have any, so we don't show any.
- "Best-seller" or "top-rated" claims, or anything the product page doesn't say.
Links and money
Right now, no link on xoodd earns us anything: every link goes straight to the product page. We may join shops' affiliate programmes later. If we do, this page and the footer will say so, and picks will still come first.
Seasons
xoodd dresses up for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, graduation and Father's Day, and is plain xoodd the rest of the year. The gifts are year-round; the look just follows the calendar.
